Henry Boitnott, from Roanoke, VA has played in numerous country and bluegrass bands since high school. Henry sings back-up vocals and plays mandolin and guitar in the group but is also a fine banjo player. Henry, along with his wife Judy, and Cammie Collier, were the founding members of Virginia Carolina in 1998.
Judy Boitnott, from Roanoke, VA and wife of Henry Boitnott, sings lead and back-up vocals and plays bass with the group. She began playing electric bass in 1989 under the direction of her mentor, Daniel Pruitt. In 1991 she began playing with the country band, The Southern Aires. She later switched to upright bass because of her love for traditional bluegrass.
Harvey Mays, from Bedford County, VA started singing bluegrass gospel at 15. Harvey sings lead and back-up vocals and plays banjo for the group but also plays mandolin, guitar and bass. In 1974 Harvey joined the former Bluegrass Revival band and performed with them until 1997. Taking a year off he then joined Virginia Carolina in 1998.
Bob Boothe, from Roanoke, Virginia. Bob has played guitar in several bluegrass bands over his career. He is a former member of The Bluegrass Entertainers. We are very proud to have Bob as our newest member. He does a fine job on guitar and he is always willing to learn something new. If we are lucky, we can get him to sing a little bass too!
